SHOOTING SEASON
, NEW SEASON'S ARRANGEMENTS
ADVICE FOR SPORTSMEN
Advice has been received by M|r C A F. Thomas of Cutlers Hardware Ltd., from the Internal Affairs Department to the effect that the following arrangements have been made regarding' this year's shooting season. The season for duck, pheasant, • quail, etc. will open on: May 6th -and continue until May 21st inclusive for duck and until the 30th - June for other game. Licenses will be issued as usual through arms dealers, post offices, etc. and with each license will be -given a coupojj to entitle the license holder to secure one box of ammunition. Both the license and the coupon must be presented when applying for ammunition. Mr Thomas has been appointed -Sole distributor of ammunition for jfche district from Taneat.ua to Edgecumbe,. and it is anticipated that Matata and Waimana will each have a distributor appointed in their areas. The price for ammunition lias not . jyet been fixed, but it is anticipated lha it will be slightly lower than jlast year—B/6 or 8/9 per box is estimated. It is further anticipated that it be of Eley manufacture ;and of mixed sizes, and the quantity issued is based on the number of licenses issued in the district last season. As yet no provision is made for an increase in: license issue, and intending shooters are advised to secure their licenses and as soon as they come to hand, somewhere, we hope, in the near future.
