Sir, —In regard to. the farmers* meeting at Edgecumbe, re- 'Dairy Producers Association, I would, like to congratulate Mr Bell on his let-, ter of the 11th inst as a very clear summing up of the whole position, and to make a few comments. 1 The time has long since lapsed to go on putting up with all the humbug and imposition that has been forced on the dairy industry and especially on the small working ■dairy farmer. In the first place, in my humble opinion, in dealing with a situation like this, if you want to get anywhere, you should always take into consideration the sort of people in authority with whom you have to deal. Certain types understand only unparliamentary language and meth-. ods and vice versa. Secondly in regard to the Dairy Producers Association I do not see why any body of sensible people who want to acquire the ability ta take care of their interests and be prepared to stand their ground, should develop into bullies or dictators as such people know that abuse of power spells downfall in everything, be it Empire, Government or any militant body. The so-called scientific dairy farming, as far as the average working dairy farmer is concerned, is nothing better than penal servitude for life; and that is where the Government means to keep it with a frequent 'kick in the pants to inspire further efforts.
