COUNTRIES IN EUROPE j INCREASE SINCE WAR STARTED Despite wartime hardships—enemy oppression, .starvation, malnutrition — nearly all countries in Europe had a higher birthrate in 11)1*2 than in 1941. Notable exceptions were Germany and Utaiy. In England, Denmark, Holland and Hungary the birthrate was the highest since the war started in 15K>5). I ; n Germany it dropped from 20.-I per 1000 in 15W9 to 1-1.5) in 151-12.
