OUTSTANDING WORK
WOMEN'S VOLUNTARY SERVICE DO-ixc orTSTAxnrxc avork The splendid work being done in England by women's organisations was outlined by Her Excellency, Lady Newnll. when she addressed members of the Canterbury (N.Z.) Travel Club recently. One big organisation that did outstanding Avork was the Women's Voluutarj* Service, organised by Lady Heading, whom Lady Xewall described as, a democratic. 'wise, and lovable woman. This service comprised hundreds of members, drawn from all walks of life. The women's institutes were other groups, Her Excellency said, that were doing excellent Avork. In one town where, she stayed, members of the institute were engaged in making hundreds of pounds of jam. The ration of jam was: one pound a month. Lady Newall exhorted members, to send to their friends in England all the jfim, sweet fruit, marmalade or chocolate they could spare.
