SUPPLIES FOR FLOOD VICTIMS OPTIONS OVER STACKS REQUIRED

The urgency of the feed position for stock from flood' affected pastures, which will require feeding over the coming winter has given rise to a growing problem for the Flood Damage) Committee. The following circular has been sent out by the Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company on the committee's behalf and l farmers are asked to give the matter their most serious consideration. Urgent Request for Hay: The Flood Damage Committee respectful. I solicits the assistance of all Avho can help in supplying hay for deliA'ciy during May and early June. The committee has. arranged for temporary grazing of all stock from affected farms und hopes to even Illally lind further relief in the way of grazing until the end of July. |It is obvious that the winter grazing will have to be supplemented and followed up Avitli liberal feeding of hay during July, August and September. \ The committee Avislies to mention the following points in connection with its request for hay and the distribution thereof:- — (1) Those prepared to assist are asked to place the hay under iirm offer to the Flood Damage. Committee until the Ist May, 19-11. (2) After any offer has been accepted the committee ayi 11 be responsible for baling, delivery and payment. The committee Avill do its utmost to see that, deserving cases only are supplied Avitli hay placed at the committee's disposal by sympathetic members of the district. (4) Although some assistance may be forthcoming many district farmers have been badly hit and avill experience heavy iinancial losses particularly in the matter of reduced butterfat income. {(5) It AYill be agreed that full compensation is out of the question and so those aylxo give any voluntary assistance Avill Avithout doubt, be helping most deserving cases. ((i) The committee wishes to stress that, hay supplies are urgently required. Farmers are not expected to dispose of their hay at anything but. reasonable values, but there may be some cases where it can be made available to the committee at nominal A-alues only without seriously affecting the vendors' interests. Please do your utmost to help us by releasing all possible supplies of hay. Fill in and return the schedule below to the undersigned by Monday, the 3rd April, 1944, at the latest. _
