Tin; monthly and annual meeting of the Waimana-Nukuhou Women's Institute was hc.ld in the hall last week. Airs G. Hewitt presided over a good attendance. The singing of tlii' Institute song opened the meeting, and the president read the Motto for the month. It was stated that cakes had been sent overseas recently to men who hail left Waimana and Nukuhou North, the funds for this purpose being taken from monies raised at a dance held a tew months agoAJembor's day will be held next month and Airs T. Wardlaw and Airs Gallagher are to arrange the'programme . Tile roll call was "Subscriptions are due" and was well responded to. The following were the winners of the monthly competitions: Apple tart, made with short pastry, made with dripping, Airs 1. Savage 1; Airs T. Wardlaw 2; Airs llewitt Three potatoes, Airs F. Bell 1; Airs H. Wardlaw 2; Airs Hewitt U. Best double llower, Airs T. Wardlaw 1: Airs F. lie 11 2; Airs King Best single, llower, Airs Hewitt 1; Aliss AI. Wardlaw 2: Airs T. Wardlaw Best vegetable. Airs Hewitt 1: Airs T. Wardlaw 2; Airs F. Bell ". Before the proceedings of the annual meeting commenced, Airs F. Savage on behall' of all members, presented Airs Hewitt, the retiring president, and Airs 11. Wardlaw, secretary, with an Institute spoon and bouquet of flowers in appreciation of their good work done for the Institute during the past year. Both responded most suitably, Airs Hewitt thanking all members t'c their co-operation: and 'assistance during her years as president. The minutes of the last annual meeting were read and adopted, and the secretary presented the report and balance, sheet which was passed. The secretaries of. the Garden and Drama Circles gave their reports also, which showed quite a successful year. Airs Hewitt, presented the prizes to winners of the most points won in the various competitions during the. past year. Gem eral competitions: Airs I. Savage 1; Airs Hewitt 2; Airs P. Bell 3. Best single llower. Mrs T. Wardlaw and Airs F. Bell tied, i; and Aliss M. Wardlaw .'l. Best double flower, Airs Bell 1; Mrs T. Wardlaw 2; Airs Stevenson and Airs Wylde tied, I?. Best vegetable, Airs Hewitt and. Airs Stansbury tied 1; Airs Bell 2. The following were elected to the committee: President. Mrs Wylde; secretary, Airs H. Wardlaw; auditor, Airs Stevenson; All's Woollield, Mrs King, Airs McConiiell Snr,, Mrs Marra, Airs J. Addison, Airs J. Wardlaw. Airs Hewitt welcomed Airs Wylde to the chair and wished her every success as president, the speaker also thanked the tellers. Airs Burnett and Mrs H. Bell, and, the judges and hostesses. The meeting closed with the National Anthem.
