FAREWELL EVENING

HAPPY LOCAL GATHERING Another farewell evening which took the form of a social and musical- gathering took placc last Tuesday at the residence, of Mr and Mrs 11. Stowcll, ol" (leorge Street, Whakatane. The guests were Pt.es Darcy Stowcll (Whakatane) and Richard Newdick (Hdgeeumbc). Another friend was Pte Warren Bolia of the U.S.A. forces who is also on leave. Complimentary references and items of a high order made for an< en'joyable gathering which included besides the Stowell family Messrs. J. Hignett, H. Waite, Murphy Brott, Quinn. Burrell, Butterworth and Kenworthj'. The items by Mr Waite Avere warmly appreciated by all present. It is interesting to note that an elder son of: Mr and Mrs Stowell, Pte Harold Stowcll, is at present serving in Italy.
