LICENSING POLL TO-DAY

POLLING day for the election of a Licensing Committee for the Bay of Plenty takes place to-day when all hotels and business premises will be compelled to observe a half holiday. The polling hours will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the only polling place in Whakatane will be at the Borough Council Chambers. County residents who live two miles away may vote immediately by postal vote if they? cannot get to town. Nine nominations have been received, to fill five vacancies, and electors may vote for one to five persons as they desire. Not more than five names should be left untouched on the paper otherwise it will be invalid., A 1 persons who are on the electoral poll, that is the roll used in the general election, may exercise a vote. The names of the candidates are: Clark, Lindsay Raymond Harrison, Opotiki, Union secretary; Graham, Fiederick William Roland, Ormond, sheepfarmer; Harrison, Henry, Opotiki, taxi proprietor; Jackson, Richard Fearon, Whakatane, retired sheepfarmer; Moody, George Septimus, Opotiki, farmer; Nicol, Andrew, Whakatane, printer; Pile, Francis, Opotiki, farmer; Pipe, Charles, Opotiki, auctioneer; Young, Arthur, Opotiki, farmer.
