Dicker, engineer-man-ager to the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board, presented the following figures at the meeting of the 3>oard held recently in Opotiki in •connection with the sale of electr,ic- * itv for the last, nine months. The figures are unusually interesting in that they show the effect of the first quarterly discount period under the * new system which gives a substantial decrease in the cost of electricity to those who pay their accounts promptly. j Sale of Electricity.—The figures given in each instance in parentheses , are for the corresponding periods in 1942/43. Six months, ended 40/9/43 £29,058* 5s Sd. (£27,931 Is lid). Assessed quarter 31/12/43 £14,457 0s 5d (£13,890 lis 2d). Total for nine months £43,5.14 8s Id (£41,821 19s Id). Amount required lor March quarter to reach estimated revenue for year 1943/44 £15,485 lis lid .(£15,366 3s 8d). Actual for quarter ended 31/3/43). Estimated revenue for year £59,000 (£57,188 2s 9d). % From the above it is evident the gross revenue from the sale of electricity should reach the amount estimated.. For the information of members the following figures are the amounts of revenue and discounts covering the first three months in which the discount system has been in operation, and for comparison the. figures for the corresponding quarter 1942: Gross Revenue: December quarter 1943 £14,457 0s sd; December quariter 1942 £13,890 lis 2d. Gross Discount: December parter 1943 £1258 3s 2d. Discounts forfeited for late payment (gross) December quarter 1943 £98 14s lOd; December quarter 1942 £130 12s 2d. Units Purchased: Nine months ended 31/12/43 14,493,050; 31/12/42 13, 920,550. Equals 4.1 per cent in•crease. ,
