MATATA DANCE
FURLOUGH MEN WELCOMED The Welcomc Home Dancc held at Matata on Thursday evening was a very successful turnout, quLe a large crowd being present.. The dance was in the nature of a welcome home, to Messrs B. Iliia and Dick Hunt who returned on furlough recently and every T one, including the two guests enjoyed themselves to the utmost.
Mr J. Fraser had the. job of M.C. and handled it in his usual capable manner, while the Gaiety Boys supplied the music.
During the evening, Mr Naumann took the opportunity to present the men with a small token from the people, of Matata, at the same time saying how pleased he was to be able to welcome them back home. Mr Raureti' also spoke, voicing the same ideas as: Mr Naumann and adding that he was, like all the rest of the. people of Matata,, glad, to have the two men back among them again, although it was only for a short time.
The two recipients replied suitably, thanking the Patriotic Society and the people of Matata for the presentations made to them, and said that they were also very gla<l to be back again in their home trictSeveral novelty dances were competed for, and dancing continued until a late hour.
