AIRWAY SERVICES
APPEAL BY GISBORNE J RESUMPTI OX SOUGHT A move is being instituted by the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce to urge upon: the civil airways authorities to reinstate the services to Gisborne as soon, ast possible. The services in question to Gis-r borne were from Palmerston North centre, which connected with other services, and from Auckland to Gisborne via Tauranga and Opotiki. The services were abandoned as a result of the Avar. At a meeting of the Gisborne chamber Mr H. H. Barker sai,d it was possible that the. Government would be in a position to permit the resumption of some of. v the abandoned air services shortly, and ho urged that Gisborne should get In early with a request for a resumption of the services there. The president, Mr W. E. Mcllwaine: We hear rumours that air services are to be resumed in thenear future, and we hope that Gis-» borne will be included. On Mr Barker's motion, the cliam-. ber agreed to urge upon the airways authorities to resume the Gisborne services as soon as possible.
