NEW POST OFFICE
WHEN CIRCUMSTANCES PERMIT SOME CAUSTIC COMMKXI'S The regulation departmental reply to the Borough Council's representations for the hastening of the building of Whakatane's new post office brought forth some, caustic remarks at last Mond.ay's meeting. Soundings had been taken ran the letter, and plans were now in the hands of the P.W.D. "Seven years ago we were informed that completed plans- were in the hands of the Department," commented the Mayor. Cr Sullivan remarked, that he too had had similar assurance from the Postmaster General. The Mayor: Well we'll wait a bit and then give, them another prod. Cr Armstrong: Another seven years! The Mayor: No. this time I think we should keep right on agitating for the building.
