MILITARY CADET TO TRAIN IN AUSTRALIA PRESENTATION TO JOHN HEAD A number of friends gathered at the church hall at Ohope on Friday evening for the. purpose of wishing God's speed to John Head who is about to enter Duntroon Military College, Australia, as a cadet. This is a singular honour, there being but ten selected each year from New Zealand, John being the first to enter the service from Wliakatane. The send-off took the form of a social evening in which games and competitions figured to a large extent. The R:'.v. Laughton made the presentation of a money belt and a leather covered writing compendium at the same time wishing him all goo.l luck and happiness I'or future years'. He also remarked how John's presence on the beach had been enjoyed by every one who had had any cause to come In contact with him, and said that the Ohope Bible Class would fe.cl lii.s absence keenly. In reply, John thankel those present for the. send-off accredited him. and also for the piesentat.on made to him. The remainder of the evening was spent in games, the Rev. | Laughton jacting as M.C.
