SHORTAGE OF MEDICAL MEN

THE acute shortage of medical men in Whakatane, where two doctors, both in bad health, are expected to administer to the needs of 13,000 people has been the subject of critical comment for a long* period. At such times when only one doctor is left to answer for the health of so many the burden becomes utterly impossible and it is pleasing to note that the Hospital Board has been battling for many months past to obtain some relief- At the present juncture word is awaited from the Public Health Department on this vital subject, the outcome of which may yet bring the desired solution to a situation which is fast becoming a hopeless one.
