ROWING PROSPECTS

FOLLOWING the splendid efforts made last year to revive interest in the Whakatane Rowing Club, it would be something of a reflection on the town if the grand old sport were allowed to lapse again in the new season. Yet there seems to be every possibility of just this danger. The club is now leconstituted, has a serviceable and wea-ther-proof building, possesses four fine skiffs and has been promised a set of competition trophies for the pressnt year. Undoubtedly the youth of Whakatane is well catered for in many directions, but we have no reservations whatsoever in classifying the clean sport of rowing as one of the finest and most healthful of them all. Those interested in opening the new season should get in touch with Mr It. Morpeth, the club secretary.
