CENTRAL DEFEATS TANEATUA
Central obtained an easy victory over Taneatua by an innings amd 61 runs. In the first innings Taneatua 'were all out for 21, Laurie, taking 7 for 14 Phillips 3 for 6. Central put up 100 for 7 declared leaving Taneatua 70 td make. In their second knock Taneatua were all out for I§, Scott, taking G for 2, Phillips 3 for 3. CENTRAL'S NARROW WIN, Central journeyed to Wliakatane during the "week-end and in an exciting game defeated United by 3 runs. With only a few minutes to spare Central's last wicket fell after United's score had been passed by 3 runs. United batted iirst to score 107. Unfortunately Spring had to retire with an injured ankle early in the game but McKenzie put on a quick 22, and Galycr then established himself and partnered with Smart added 28 runs for the sth wicket to carry the score to 98 but the innings closed at-107. Laurie bowled well for 5 wickets for 17 runs. Central opened sliakil3" and wickets fell despite a solid inn-, ings by Campbell who was undefeated with 19. With 7 down for 63 United looked in a good position,, ' but Burstall opened out to Rigden. and the ninth wicket fell at 101. Scott coming in to hit the winning four. Waimana secured a G point win over Taneatua and now lead, the competition with Central each having 16 points.
