SMALL SHIPMENT ARRIVES
PR ISPA RAT lON S FOR "WINTER Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.,, has re-» reived tlie. following letter from tlie Hon. D. G. Minister of Supply and Munitions: — "I have to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the. 27th December enquiring as to tlie 1 possibilities of isupplics of, gumboots being made available for farm workers. The. position is that a small shipment has now landed in Wellington and arrangements are now being finalised; to have this shipment distributed to certain selected wholesalers for distribution to the public in terms of the scheme of control shortly to be inaugurated to> erasure that only really necessitous cases are supplied. By far the greatest proportion of this shipment will be allocated for the farming commune ity, and a limited number of suit-, able sizes are included for issue to women engaged dn farm duties. I(n addition gumboots are coming forward satisfactorily from the. local manufacturing source and they also will be the. subject of the same scheme of; control. Full details will shortly be published setting out just how and to whom application for release should be madei and as a result of the measures taken and the supplies now to hand, it should be possible to satisfy a number of the most urgent. cases before the next wet season.
