"The new service," continued Mr J Hayden, "will be complementary to " the. postal tobacco scheme which, L besides- saving thousands of pounds ; to relatives and friends in the Do-* • minion, has also been the. means of ensuring that New Zealand Service " personnel overseas have received > from time to time, a substantial gift ■ of their favourite brand of cigar•f ettes. pipe or cigarette tobaccos. It - has long been realised that in the : New Zealand Forces there arc men ■ who do not smoke. (four half-pound cakes) will he specially packed in a sealed tin and will be, posted to a member of the New Zealand Forces serving anywhere. overseas. Order forms are available at all post offices, but can only be accepted at a Money Order 1 Office. These forms have been de- ' signed on similar lines to those used I for the tobacco service, to ensure I that a receipt is given when the | order is placed and when the order j is received by the board. They also permit of one section be.irij£ detached and kept by the board for record ' purposes. Another section, to be ' filled in by the sender, \vilji contain the. name and address of the Serviceman or woman, and this will be the label for the parcel." Mr Hayden added that it was felt that the chocolate service would be welcomed by the. Service personnel, t their relatives and friends alike, ami that before long it would be a major activity of the board. He expressed appreciation, on behalf of the board, of the co-operation received from the postal authorities and. others in helping to make the service possible.
