Motor Accidents in 1943
Fewer fatal motor accidents took place in New Zealand; in 19-13 compared with either of the two previous years. During the year there, were 138 accidents involving the •deaths of 115 persons. In the previous year the fatal accidents numbered 159 and deaths 167, and in 1941 the 158 accidents caused 175 deaths. Last year's 138 fatal incidents" inc'uded 40 collisions with pedestrians, 2(> collisions between motor vehicles, 20 collisions with bicycles, 11 with trains, ten with fixed and one with a tiara. Cars going over banks- caused feu fatal accidents. The year's Jala! motor accidents involved the deaths -of 07 occupants of motor vehicles 42 pedestrians, 20 cyclists and 16 .motor cyclists and pillion riders.
