There appears: [ {) be a grim impartiality about the levying of taxes on all sections of the community. In response to a question raised locally. the Acting District inspector of Factories of the Department of Labour advises that National and Social Security taxes are both payable on -wages drawn by schoolboys over the age of 1(5 whether or not they are returning to school in February.. .It is known of course that all. young people have to register at the age of 16 and hold a levy book. This is signed by the headmaster of the school they attend and they are not required -to pay taxes -while still at school. However, -wages earned in the holidays are now to be. taxed in the. ordinarv -way.
