PAPER MILLS EMPLOYEES THHRD SUCCESS IVI-: EVENT The dance to be held, in the Win~ier Show Buildings* on New Year's Eve will be the. third, held by the. -employees of the Whakatane Paper -Mills. An energetic committee has been working for some months past, to make this, function a greater suc--cess than ever before. The lirst dance, was heid in aid of the 'Mill employers overseas' and as a result of the splendid public -support given a very substantial -sum permitted the despatching of a useful parcel to each ex-employee with our forces. At the mid-year •, <lance promoted; by the same com-. liiittee the sum of £70 was handed over to the. Whakatane branch of the Red Cross Society, to swell its i'unds and to assist in the magnificent work they are doing. It. is the committee's hope that k the proceeds of the forthcoming ■dance will eclipse, those of the past., thus enabling them to hand on to the Red. Cross organisation an even .greater donation. With this end in view* a generous programme of •dances will make the night a very enjoyable one for all patrons. Through the generosity of Me-ssrs JBridgers Ltd., Cutlers, Whakatane Hardware, Morpeth's and. other local business firms numerous novelty dances have been included in the programme. The committee takes the opportunity of publically thanking the; donors for their gifts and -of reminding the dancing public of the; rare treat they have in store * for them at the Winter Show Hall on New Year's Eve.. The New Year will be piped in by members of the Whakatane Caledonian Socio tj-'s Pipe. Band at midnight.
