We extend, our heartiest congratulations to John Head of Ohope, who was elected Dux of the Whakatano School at the. breaking-up ceremony and also to Beverley Armstrong who was made Dux of the girls by a similar popularity vote. Mr and Mrs J. J. Butler, of Domain Road, have received word that their son Pte J. J. Butler, who was a Prisoner of War in Campa S5 Italy, has been transferred to Stalag VMUa Germany. Major Lome S. Ward, of the 25t1» Division American Army, and who is now on furlough after seeing service: in the Pacific War zone, Is the guest of Captain and Mrs H. W. Brabant, of Wha'katane. over the Xmas holidays. We have received details of tho recently held Electrical Wiremans examination and have pleasure m announcing the success of two local candidates; W.s Holland and F. M. Ramson, who passed, with a SO per cent- margin of marks. Our congratulations to the two students.
