"Shanghai Gesture" is one of the most exciting and sensational lilms ever shoAvn at the Regent Theatre, where it will be screened to-day at three special sessions oii'ly. The film i.s set against the. lurid background of Shanghai with its glittering underworld, Avhere men and women love dangerously between the lines of the law. Gene Tierney, Victor Mature and Walter Huston play the main title roles in this exciting picture. Shanghai, where all roads meet, and sets its; charm in an aura of enchanting adventure. To-day's sessions are at 1.30, 5 and 8 p. m.
Recently New York theatregoers had the pleasure of seeing the World Premiere of the latest Fox musical production and preview critics are still raving over its instantaneous success. The film is "My Gal Sal" and features Amerca's No. 1 red head star —Rita Haywortli, and ably supporting her are Victor Mature (fresh from his triumphs in "Shanghai Gesture''' and ''Tarzan Triumphs"), John Sutton and Carole Landis. Deanna Durbin's latest and most eagerly aAvaited picture,.,-"The Amazing Mrs Holliday," comes next Friday to the Regent Theatre. The neAv Universal film, Deanna's eleventh in her series of successes dating from ''Three Smart Girls," is said to reveal the star as an outstanding dramatic actress as well as the most popular songstress of the cinema. Tliq story is described as one of timely interest and importance. Action, for the most, part, takes place in the glamorous society circles of Sail Francisco while many exciting sequences are devoted to the peril-, ous aftermath following Japanese ,encroachments in the Orient.
