ATTRILL CUP CHALLENGE
A DRAWN GAME
The Rangitaiki Cricket Association journeyed to Rotorua during the week-end to challenge the holders of the Attrill Cup and were very unlucky to. be held to a drawn game as play was abandoned, at 3.30 p.m. on account of rain. Rotorua won the toss and elected to bat and wickets fell at even figures to the accurate bowling of the. Rangitaiki players. Miller bowled well for 1 for l.~> Avhilst McKenzie and Cleland secured 3 for 19 and 3 for 22 respectively.
Rangitaiki had to. but i'or te.ii minutes before -lunch and: Spring was -caught behind the stumps for 3, the. position being 1. wicket for (! runs when play was resumed at 1.30 p.m. Axtcns played a solid knock for 17 whilst. Miller and McKenzie contributed 11 and 10 respectively. The visitors position looked' well with 4 down for GO but Godsahe proved, too tricky for the batsmen and bowled Mi'ller whilst Rivett and Fislier played on the two successive balls to complete the ''hat trick." With 7 for 62 the position was' considerably changed, but heavy rain again came on and the match was abandoned. Heavy showers necessitated. several stoppages of play during the innings of Rangitaiki.
