PROPOSED AERODROME
SUGGESTED AIRPORT BOARD
THE LATEST MOVE
Following the recent visit to the district by officers' of the Air Department and P.W.D. for the purpose of inspecting sites which could be developed as potential aerodromes for this distinct the Borough! Council has received a communication from , the Department urging the formation of an Airport Board. The letter pointed, out that if. was imperative in the present in.stance to get the two local bodies to pool Lheir interests in order to achieve the formation of such a board by which the interests ol' the district as a whole could be coordinated. By this means representations could be made to the Government for a definite ruling as' to the merits ol' the aerodrome scheme though there was little prospect even with official approval of having the project put in hand til]' after the war. The council decided to refer the matter to the Town Clerk and the Mayor to investigate the. authority of the council to establish anil set up such a board and in the event of not being aide to .secure, .sufficient information to seek further advice from the Air Department.
