Boys Save Crop A call for the purpose of saving a crop of carrots near Gisborne was made to the Gisborne High School during the week. Through lack of labour, the crop had not been weed-, ed. and required urgent attention •if it was to be saved. As a result of the appeal, a number of boys volunteered to assist, and on Wednesday 20 from one class went out into the country and carried out the weeding operations, while a further 20 from another class replaced the first lot. The boys were paid at the rate of Is 6d an hour, and although further work was required to effectively weed the whole crop, the portion done will represent a distinct saving to the productive efforto- f the Dominion.
