SHOULD CONTRIBUTE
OHOPE DOMAIN GRANT
COUNTY COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE
Applying for the County Council's usual grant to the Ohope Domain Board to enable it to carry out the. year's, operations, the Rev. J. G. Laughton, chairman stated that in view of the possible lormation of a dependent Town Board, at Ohope, the council was asked whether it will continue to foster by grants, the asset of the whole district in the Ohope Domains, should such a town board be created. While the Ohope Town Board would doubtless make to the Domain Board a contribution proportionate to its financial resources, it Avas quite manifest that the revenue of the projected Town Board would not allow it to mal:e such a grant as would enable the Ohope Domain Board to function at all, far less to develop one. of the greatest Bay of. Plenty public assets.
Cr McGraekcn said lie agreed with the. proposal but would like to learn what, other .support the Board had been receiving from the Whakatanc Borough Council, which body, he claimed had just as much if not a greater interest in Oh ope than did the; County.
The chairman. Mr J. L. Burnett, agreed .stating that if necessary the council should approach the Borough on this matter.
lit was decided to give formal apjiroval to a grant of £100 for the current year but to seek particulars of tlieir sources' of revenue from local bodics-
