SLR HEATON RHODES GESTURE

In his dual capacity as Knight Commander of the Order of St. John in New Zealand and as( Flresident of the N.Z. Red Cross Society, Sir Heaton Rhodes, before he left last Wednesday morning called upon Mr A. J. Canning, president of the local Association and presented him with a donation of £5. Sir Heaton made it clear to Mr Canning that he wished the donation to go to the Association's 'new hall* fund which has recently been inaugurated,, and which he hoped' to see materialise as a joint effort with the Red Cross' Society, combining the activities of both orgaix'iisation/i.
