Taneatua were successful during the week-end in del'eat'ing the compei.ii.ion leaders ]>y 17 runs on the first innings played on Taneatua Domain. Poor fielding lost the. game lor United as several catches were dropped, which eventually proved costly. Taneatua batted first and L. McCready plastered Rigdon for successive sixes before being snapped up by Connell at point when lie bad 32 runs. Rcid played a solid innings for 25. Jack Galyer bowled an untiring 11 overs for -.1 wickets for 10 runs. Taneatua's innings closed just before lunch with 120 up. Spring and Connell opened well for United the latter contributing 19 before going Ibw. Johns carried on with Spring and the pair looked set when Spring was bowled when attempting a big hit. His 37 runs were scored in grand style and there were 2 clown for 74. However Rawson's steady howling proved too much for United, who were all out for 103. llawson secured 5 wickets for f>B runs off 17 overs.
