ACCIDENT AT PAPER MILLS

Whilst receiving, raw pulp through the uplifting machine at the Whakatane Paper Mills on Sunday morning, Mr James Cassin a married man aged 38 years, had his left arm caught between the rollers and draggled) in to the bicep muscle. The machine was' stopped 1 , but owing to the fact that it could not be reversed, had to be pal'tiiill]' dismantled before the injured member conldl be freed. During the hour entailed by this process the injured man was propped upright and remained conscious Assisted mo doubt by the ftijec-, tions which were administered by the doctor in attendance. He was removed to the AVliaka■tane. Hospital where, an amputation was immediately performed. His condition to-day is reported to be -satisfactory.
