Drilling" for Oil Another change in location is be-« ing made by, the New Zealand Petroleum Company in the search .for oil in TaranakL. according to a report issued from the head oil ice in C 3 isborne. Following upon the drilling of No. 1 well at Uruti,, and the, location in that well of a basement of Jura-Trias rocks at 1070 ft,, the drilling .phuit is being dismantled and preparations, are being made to sink No. 2 test well at a point about four milt s south-westward and near the main south-north coast road. Drilling at this new location is expected to start about November 20. i Drilling at Uruti was commenced in September following the abandonment of the. Devon No, 2 well near New Plymouth at a cjepth of t>l77ft after tests for oil aaid gas on the sandstone horizons intersected had proved negative. The No. 2 test, well is the fourth drilling site in Taranaki this year.
