UNITED DEFEATS A.T.C,

In a very interesting match Whakatane United narrowly secured a (j-point Avin over Air Training Corps at the. Domain. A.T.C. Avon the toss and. sent United in to bat. who scored 124 in their first innings. McKenzie gave a chaneeless display for ol runs before being caught Avhilst Jack Gayler and McClean contributed 20 and 18 respectively. A.T.C. opened their innings well with a partnership by A. Gayler and Gartshore. The latter contributed 29 in open style Avith 2 down for .)4 at lunch the boys failed to settle down later and were out for 72 runs. United batted for half an hour to give A.T.C,. 101 runs to make. McClean hit a useful 22 runs in quick time. In the A.T.C. second innings the accurate bowling of McKenzie assisted by Whitehead and Gayler secured the game before stumps. The. following are the scores in detail:—

Croquet E ETAOINSHRL SOUTH AUCKLAND CUP GAME On Thursday last AVhakatanc Croquet players visited Taneatua in a challenge for the South Auckland 'A' Cup. The day was bright and sunny and after very hard and cx-i citing games AVhakatanc managed to bring home the Cup, winning by 86 points to 76. Details of games were as follows, AVhakatanc players being mentioned first: — Mesdames Hellyar and Loane v Mesdames Moore and Marsden (2. losses). Mesdames Baxter and Healy v Mesdames Grace and Hill (2 wins). The. AVhakatanc players were entertained to a tasty luncheon at the tea rooms while a delicious morning and afternoon tea was served at the pavilion by the Taneatua ladies.
