GERMANS COMPLAIN
CZECHS HATE US TERRIBLY The letters, found on the .(lernianss who were killed or captured on the Eastern front have become a new important source ol.' information concerning tlie conditions existing in Czechoslovakia. These letters however reveal nothing sensational, but only corroborate what is already known. Thus Corporal It. Fellner,, who is. with the German garrison in the Czech town of Rokycnny, near Plzen, writes to his friend Helmer to the Eastern front: "The life here in Rokyeany is indeed hard. The Czech populace hates us terribly." The German civilian, Kryehtal, from Prague, informs his friem<. R. Herman,, now in Russia: "The devil himself knows that's going on here. The Czechs become more arrogant. Just imagine, a few days ago during the night they raised their Hag over the Industrial Palace here. And I have recently seen an inscription done in tar and lime on the. pave-, mcnt: "Death to the occupants." Still another German occupant of Parg'ue, Lutz Selineck, feels much alarmed by what's going on, and. he complains in a letter to his Karl Kestern: "J/f some strict measures are not taken immediately, the Czechs will continue their traitorous activity, and it will end badly for the Germans. The Czech hatred against us is already too deeprootexl." New strict measures to eradicate Czech hatred for the occupants will be of no avail. Reinhard Heydrich tried; to do all that he could, but he failed.
