ENCOURAGING PROSPECTS

At a special meeting of residents | last Saturda.y evening in the Awa-i ' keri .school housed and over which Mr Xorman Carter presided, it was decided to set. up a Scout Troop Committee to assist and cncouragc tin-: newly formed troop in that district. Scout Commissioner C. KingsleySmith, and District Scoutmaster S. F. Miller, attended and addressed the meeting after which it was unanimously decided to form a committee comprising [Messrs N. Carter (chairman). Eric Haul tain. H. N. Jensen, J. Boulcott, F. Jones. T. F. Kerr and A. X. Marsh (secretary) and Mcsdames K. Knight), Matchett and Dodunsltu The committee appointed Messrs Jack Marsh Scoutmaster, and Tom Howell, Assistant Scoutmaster, pending the. arrival of their respective warrants. An executive comprising Messrs Carter. Kerr and Boulcott was elected, to deal Avitli matters requiring immediate attention. The chairman and secretary Avere also appointed delegates to the Bay Association and Mr T. F. Kerr was appointed auditor. With a view to finding a portion of the cost of the uniforms for the twenty-one members of the. troop a collection taken up in the room realised £10 ss.
