STRUCK BY CAR
ELDERLY MAN'S DEATH ACCIDENT AT POROPORO An unfortunate accident with fatal results took place at the Poroporo corner last Saturday evening when an elderly man, Thomas Sturdy, who is employed by the Rangitaiki Dairy Company as gardener, was struck by a taxi and seriously imjuredl He was removed to the Whakatane Hospital in an unconscious condition where it was discovered that he was suffering from a fractured leg and extensive internal injuries-. lie never regained consciousness and died on Sunday evening. The taxi was <1 riven by Mr R. Howell. The inquest was opened yesterday afternoon before Mr (J. Brabant, and adjourned.
