LONG LIST OF OFFENDERS LOCAL PROSFCUTJOXS The. following cases of traffic and by-law infringements were ileal t with by Mr E. L. Walton at the October sitting of the Whakatane Magistrate's Court, last Tuesday:— For permitting the use of an unlicensed tractor and trailer on the roadway on July 2Nth. David O. Murray Avas fined 10s and costs 12s and, costs alone, on the second charge 12s. Cr C. A. Suckling explained to the court that the machine Avas driven by a Maori employee in lire absence of the defendant from the farm. Win. T. Williams the driver who was not the holder of a regulation drivers license was also fined 5s and. costs 375. S. W. Burstall Avas charged with knowingly using an unlicensed trailex on August -Ith and further with operating his car without the requisite warrant of fitness. Fined 20s and 10s Avith costs in each instance amounting to lids. Milton Knight Cave Avas charged with driving his 'bus without due care and attention. The Transport Inspector stated that the charge arose out of a complaint lodged by Mr P Skiffington whose car on July 7th w-as parked close, to the kerb in Commerce Street. The defendant had driven his large bus loaded with school children in between his ear and a service car in so cramped a space that the door hinges of the ear had been struck and damaged. Fined 20s and costs 12s. 0 For driving an unlicensed car at Fdgeeumbe on July 20th D. C. Donovan Avas fined 20s and, costs 12s. Francis Jid. Briggs who admitted to the inspector that he had no driver's license or warrant of fitness was fined 5s and 10s respectively and costs 2is. Robt. Moore for failure to have the. requisite Avarrant of fitness Avas fined 10s and costs 12s. A second offence of failure to procure a Avarrant of fitness for his light delivery truck cost Stanley Keepa *:2 and costs 17s. \\\ the same category Johnny Winetr who had no driver's license Avas fined 15.s and costs 17s. Henri Te Pono for failure to produce a driver's license Avas fined 5s and costs 17s. George Chase owner of a Achicle which he drove without a Avarrant of fitness Avas fined £2 and costs 12s. A. Magee avlio Avas likewise'without a driver's license Avhen accosted was fined 5s and costs 30s fid. Ronald Eraser for a similar offence at Galatea Avas fined 5s and costs 22s (id. For riding a motor cycle at AA\akaponga on July 23rd .1. S. Vant who drove without either license or warrant of fitness. Avas i'moi.) 5s and 10s and total costs amounting to 11s. Mrs J. M. Gush-for driving. Avithont a license was fined 5s and costs 32s (id. A further fine of 10s and costs 32s 6d was imposed on F. T. Gush as the owner of a ear without a certificate of fitness. For exceeding the speed of 40 m.p.h. at Te Teko on August sth Edward Hohapata .was; fined £3 and costs 37s fid.
