authentic news ABOUT 1937 SPRINGBOK TEAM Some time ago a message Irom London 'was. published regarding the death overseas on active service, of members of the famous Springbok Rugby football team which toured New Zealand. The information was checked by the Press Association and subsequently corrected. News of the players, who were in the Dominion in 19H7 and who have served in the war, is now given as follows in a recent Press Association message from Wellington. Fanie Louw died at Ellis Park in 1940 from heart failure after a Rugby match. His brother "Boy" arrived in the Middle East recently. Philip Ncl, the captain, served in North Africa until after the battle

Danie Craven, the renowned dive pass artist. is a lieutenant-colonel commanding a physical training unit in South Africa. H. Martin is a colonel and was awarded the D.F.C., in the western desert. C. Jennings was recently mentioned in despatches. J. Hester is an officer of a physical training camp in South Africa. W. E. Bastard was a lieutenant in the N.M.R. but returned home sick and has since recovered. J. White is in the. Army in South Africa. D. O. Williams served as a sergeant in the Middle East and returned to South Africa last year. L. Babrow was slightly wounded while serving in the Middle East and is now back in South Africa.
