NEW GUN TURRET IN NOSE Mass production of the B-24 (Liberator) bomber now includes a new nose turret containing Uvo 50-calibre (12.5 millimetre) machine guns, according to an announcement, approved by the United States War Department, from the Ford Willow Run plant. The new armament on the fourengincd planes makes it possible to lay an armour-piercing screen of 2000 lull lets a minute. The gunner has a visibility of nearly 3(io degrees, an important factor in sighting approaching enemy planes. The turret, similar to those mounted in some British bombers, can be mounted either in the tail or nose of the plane.
