SECTION OF STRAND EXTENSION
HARBOUR BOARDS INTEREST
At Hit*, meeting of tlie Whakatane Harbour Board last Friday the ■chairman, Mr W. R. Boon, reported that in conference with His Worship the Mayor, it had been, mentioned that the Housing Department was investigating the question of additional areas in Whakatanc and the suitability of a section of tlie Strand Extension Road from King Street to McGarvey's Road for housing purposes had been suggested. A letter had accordingly been directed to the Housing Department, Wellington, and the following reply had be,cn received:— "Referring further to your let-' ter of the 30th ult. I would like to say that Mr A. J. Canning of Whakatane had a very full discussion with Mr Hammand on 21st instant relative to this proposal. As a result of this discussion it is proposed that an officer of this Department visits Whakatane with a view to fully investigating the matter on the actual silte. I will advise you in due course the date of the proposed) visit."
The matter was fully discussed by the Board and Messrs Kent and. Brabant were appointed to confer -with the Housing Department's representative when he visited the town.
