SCHOOL SWIMMING BATH FUNDS
Sir, —Some months ago a public appeal was made for funds for the construction of a 'learn to swim' bath at the school. About £130 was raised for this purpose.
The Puilding Controller has refused permission for the construction of the baths, for an indefinite period. J't appears unlikely that permission will be given while the war is
At the School Committee meeting held last evening a letter was received from the teachers suggesting that tlio above funds subscribed should he diverted and used for the laying down of a concrete tennis court at» the school to cost about £200. The committee carcl'ully considered the matter and is prepared to donate up to £25 for this purjjose. When, the time comes for the construction of. the swimming bath the teachers undertake to raise £130 by means of concerts etc. towards the cost of construction. Will j'ou please give the suggestion publicity and invite criticism, suggestions etc. My committ.ec considers the proposal is a good one provided the people who donated money for the; swimming bath have no objection to the diversion of the funds after taking into account the offer of the teachers: to find £130 towards the cost of construction of the baths at a later date. Yours etc., C. W. GOOD, Hon. Secretary.
