LOANS BOARD REQUISITION

The recent petition forwarded by the Wliakatane County Council protesting against the raising of the £45,000 loan lor the purposes of enlarging the present Wliakatane. Hospital establishment has been forwarded back to the council by the Loans Board with the following observation:— "It is noted that paragraph 3 of the petition states that manj' ratepayers meetings protesting against the Hospital Board's loan proposals have been held, and in this connection the council is asked to advise how many of such meetings have been held, by whom they were convened and also give an indication as to the numbers present." The chairman said lie was certain that at least two meetings of pro-* test had been called, lie thought, at the instigation of the Farmers' Union. Cr Burt mentioned that it would be fair to request the Hospital Board to furnish the council with a copy of its letter to the Loans Board., in order to learn the true position as to what information was required. The matter was held over for a month in order to allow this procedure to be carried out.
