Unless he has 15roved that these things are so, then it seems rather un-British to make such statements in the press. There, are four Churches in this town, with various organisations attached—Bible classes, Confirmation classes, Sunday schools, etc., and all have spiritual leaders. An intimate knowledge of the work of each v/ould be required before it could be said and publicly said, they were failing so utterly.
Last Sunday the various Churches called their people to s£>eeial thanksgiving services, to acknowledge the goodness of God. I wonder if "Britisher" were, among the number who gathered to return thanks? Tours etc., CHURCHMAN.
Sir,—"Britisher" strikes the right note when he places the emphasis, on dependence upon God, in this national crisis. He mentions remarkable instances of Divine intervention, and then says: "It am certain that if our spiritual leaders would: emphasise these facts, and instead of continual platitudes, if they scnted a God to our people Who will and does answer the prayers of a nation, they would fill their Churches and there would not be the need to call Town Hall meetings to teach the people morality, lor they would, prove God, and the young people would understand that tlie.y are spiritual beings." Is Britisher quite sure that this is not being done? Is he sure that spiritual leaders are not. stressing the fact that God hears astd answers
