WLX FOR ill Gi l SCHOOL An the. result of a challenge match against Whakatane District High School played at the Domain last Saturday, Whakatane Juniors More completely outclassed as regards standard of football. Beaumont, and L. Stewart did the lion's share of the "work l'or Whakatane but the .speed and precision handling of the school line despite the fact, that they were two men short had the .Junior backs well tangled. Tin; teams were:— Juniors: Marshall, Dines, Savage, Langdon, Hudson, Gayler,, Ward, Muir, F. Stewart, Beaumont, Leo Stewart, Bluett, Hudson. L. Stewart, Hudson. High School: Law, Conway, Monday. VVetini, Henderson, N. Raureti.. L. Raureti,, Hammond. Goodall. Rutherford, Cameron, Tiepa, Boswell. School opened the game with a fasL rush and Juniors, were forced back to their 2o almost immediately. Beaumont saved well but Tiepa, trapping the leather neatly, ducked round the outside and sprinted down field. Beaumont grassed, him and play swept, to half way. L. Raureti obtained the ball and passed, ot Boswell and centred and Cameron sped over to touch down. Boswcll's kick was sound. School 5, Juniors 0.
Conway led the next attack but Muir scooped up the ball and kicked to line, in School's 25. Boswcll followed up, gathered in, and it looked like an easy score but once again Beaumont was safe. A scrum followed., Out came the. ball, and Tiepa was off downlield. Muir stopped him but the ball carried on into Junior's 25. Tiepa fastered on to the ball again and a rush started that sent Bo,swell over the line bringing School's score to 8. Tiepa's kick was good. Back at half-waj* Tiepa immediately initiated another 'invasion and Hammond, crosscd the line 1 again. Boswell converted and half-time found the score at 15-0 in School's favour. After the change-over the Junior backs woke up, but the speed and efficient handling of the School backs had them fogged. Beaumont led the next, rush for Whakatane but, in doing so, received an injury to his leg and had to retire. A set scrum followed, and. L. Stewart showed up well in a brilliant solo rush. Boswell was safe however, and lined,,-well upfield, and the final whistle went bringing the match to a close 1 which showed no' further improvement in the score. Mr A. Boswell refcreed.
