POLITICAL BROADCASTS
for the crumbs that fall from the tahle of their masters. Whilst the people have no say in the Government of their country their members being held under the party whip. New Zealand, fair maiden when the party politician comes pleading at your feet., give heed to the Gipsy's warning. Yours etc., W. BRADSHAW. 1 j ! j j
Sir,—On Monday, September (sth, Mr D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industry, spoke from Christehurclv over the air, and the subject of his discourse was what this Government had tlonc for Labour and the farmer. From the farmers' point of ciew— l stabilisation and excess profits—puts one in mind of the nursery rhyme, "Nellie Bly Caught a Fly etc."—but don't be caught again. In attacking the National Party, he said. National had no right to name of party "being Independents held together on a no-confidence motion. Mr Sullivan evidently upholds party politics, being the representation of a party Government, and not representing the people. He says no Government however had so high a prestige from the start of the war till now. Mr Nash's speech quoting from President Roosevelt, on his return from the States, he (Mr Nash) was carrying the financial banner of the stars and stripes, when lie .stated that New ' Zealand would liavC to come under -the control of the States after the. war. The ledger accounts of the Lease and Lend, would be interesting reading if brought to light. Mr Sullivan says he always assisted secondary industries, and that secondary industries could do a better job as compared to primary production. Whilst the secondary industries are being taken under corporate control and sponsored bj r the Government finally. Fanning will come under collective State control! Not co-opera-tion of the individual farmer. It makes one stop to think, when we see the political parties scrambling.
