For the lirst few minutes both sides played loosely, Beaumont show ing up in a succession of good dribbling rushes. Ward law lined down in Whakatanc's 25 and both sides packed tight. A try seemed, imminent but Gartsliore forced, and play swung back to half -way.
A set scrum followed from "which the hall came out and Bower ing was oil' down field before AVaimana properly woke up. However, Ward.law was safe and grassed him as both sides came round. When the scrum bro'ke up Kelson had to go off with an injured shoulder., and with no emergency, Waimana played the rest of the 1 game one man short.
A pcrifod of line outs' followed right on half way till J. Hudson scooped up the ball and made 30 yards before being stopped. The bail went out to the AVaimana backs and a rush carried play down to AATiakatane's goal line. Beaumont made an excellent save by a good line kick, but. AA'aimana obtained possession again and AA Tardlaw kicked up field, and the ball rolled over the line. AVhakatane. had plenty of time to force but hesitated allowing Rust to dive past and touch down. Kelson's kick hugged the ground. AVaimana 3, AA'hakatane 0.

Alter the change over Waimana put on a lresh spurt and foiced the ball into Wliakatane's quarter. Both sides packed; AYaiiuana hooked neatly—and once again the blue boys were caught llat-footed as F. Addison sprinted across the line bringing AA'aimana's score to six. The kick went wide.
Back at half way, Beaumont made a brilliant solo rush and play surged into Waimana's quarter. Gartsliore attempted a penalty shot at goal from the 25 but the ball fell just short and both sides packed under the goal. For an instant the ball rolled out —AVardlaw forced and the final whistle went bringing the match to* a close. Mr C. Major referced.
