PREVENTING CRUELTY
THE recent discussion at the County Council table, anent the prevention of cruelty to farm animals generally is an indication to urban populations that the farmer far from being apathetic in these matters is just as keen as anybody to put down firmly all instances of flagrant and thoughtless cruelty. The opinion may be safely taken as an average expression of almost all gatherings of ordinary decent farmers and will no doubt encourage the group of interested persons who are already taking steps to go into the possibilities of forming a local branch of the S.P.C.A. in this district. The main point in future will be the differentiate between what is deliberate or careless cruelty and what is inflicted innocently or by accident.
