WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MATATA MEETING The Matata Women's Institute held its monthly meeting in the Parish Hall on Wednesday last. Mrs H. Withy presided over a good attendance of members. The meeting opened with the singing of the Ode to Friendship and the Aspirations were read by Mrs Caverhill., The secretary read the minutes of the last meeting and the business of the day was dealt with. It was deckled to hold the annual Flower Show on the 15th September and to engage the. Matata Hall l'or the occasion as owing to the increasing number of entries each year it was found that the Parish Ha.l'l is inadequate. Mrs Ansell, delegate to. the Dominion Conference held at borne,, gave a very interesting report on the meeting and commented on the splendid, way in which everything had been roganised. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Ansell and Marr. The results of the competitions were as follows: Best, flower, Mrs Ansell 1; Mrs H. Withy 2; Miss Burt 3. Best bulb, Mrs Smith 1; Mrs Ansell 2; Miss Burt 3. Soldiers ginger nuts, Mrs Ansell 1; Mrs Withy, 2; Miss Burt 3.
