BLANKET SHORTAGE
Sir, —In desperation T s«ek through your valuable columns a solution to my problem. I've sought in vain for blankets, single and double and cot too for three years. I was able to obtain the latter after having my name taken down by local and Auckland firms for at least 18 months. What do others of your readers think of this suggestion, the "Home Guard" is more or less disbanded, I their uniforms taking up valuable space, couldn't they be called in and issued after being cleaned etc. to the 18 year olds who have to train for their two months course and allow the woollen mills to put labour and material into blankets. Everyone I speak to admits that they too, are short, and we have six to eight weeks of very cold nights still, It'll take many months to fill the supply of every house. Yours etc. "DESPERATE."
