Value of Swimming Instruction The benefit of teaching children to swim was stressed by Mr W. J. Broad foot, M.P. for Waitomo, Avhen speaking on the Estimates in the House of Representatives. Dog Suckles Lamb Lambs have had some unusual foster-mothers, but one of the strangest is a black sheep dog, Avhosc pups had been taken away from her. A motherless lamb Ava.s placed in the same enclosure as the dog, and before long the lamb Avas seen feeding from the dog. This is reported bj' Private Clarrie Marshall,, avlk> is at home in Gisbornc on furlough, to have occurred on the farm of his father, Mr C. B. Marshall, Tahora, Tarana'ki, and it is also stated that the lamb remained 'with the dog for four or five days until a ewe Avas found for the orphan.
