DANGER FROM KITES

THE present craze for kite-flying- on the part of small boys in and about Whakatane has already led to one or two minor power cut-outs. While not seeking to deprive the lads of this innocent source of amusement, we have been asked to appeal to parents to see that their young hopefuls do not indulge in the sport on the streets or near power lines, but confine their activities to the more open spaces where there is no danger of fouling the wires. Accidents of this nature may have very serious consequences and for this reason alone, we appeal to residents as even more important than the inconvenience of having the power temporarily suspended.
